Pro-Pain - Supported by Hungarian bands
Last Wednesday it was once again time to visit our good friends from Superbutt. This time they were playing at the 013, a pretty big name in the Dutch venue list. Together with their Hungarian friends from Subscribe they were supporting Pro-Pain and Metalrage was present to watch the show.
The first band of the night was Subscribe. To be honest I can’t describe what this band plays. They mix so many bands together and once again the rhythms of the band just are different from our standards. A few bands you can hear in their music are Hoobastank, 36 Crazyfists and Dutch rockers Concubine. And it just sounds awesome! With a great drummer and two capable vocalists they were putting together a great show. Although they aren’t really Pro-Pain supporting material, they sure did an excellent job and the audience was a bit quiet, they sure convinced me with their music. A review of their cd will be online soon so check that one out!
And then it was time for Superbutt to enter the stage. This time they were in a strange line up with a different drummer and only one guitar player. It was a first timer for the band because the day after a second guitarist would join the band. The band always know what to do to get the feeling coming and there were a few die hard fans jumping around in front of the stage but most of the people present came for Pro-Pain and just stood in the back watching the band do their thing. Superbutt plays music you can compare with a band like System of a Down only they do it in a Hungarian way. And they sure know what they are doing because the music is fun and in some strange way you can actually dance on it! The songs they played included Pioneer and some songs of their first album. I had a great show and I am looking forward seeing them on this years Sziget festival in Hungary.
The headliner of the night was Pro-Pain and actually this isn't my kind of music style. Hardcore in general does not have many variations and it just does not attract me. I watched a couple of songs and just like on the CD the band does not put any variations in the music. The only thing I liked about the show were the strong and hearable vocals but I think I have to thank the shoundguy for this one. Because the audience was enjoying the show and I just could not listen to the band anymore I decided to leave the venue and I went home after saying goodbye to my good friends from Superbutt. The 2 supporting bands did not fit the headliner but I sure had a good evening.
